Dr. Villarreal was raised in Katy, Texas, and is a graduate of Katy High School. He also graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Biology. There he received a football scholarship and was awarded All-Conference Honors in athletics as well as academics. He was also voted into the NCAA Division 1 All-American Team as an Honorable Mention. After attending The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where he received his M.D., he went on to Anesthesia Residency at the prestigious Tulane University. During his residency, he developed a true passion in caring for patients with difficult to treat pain. After completing his Anesthesia residency, he opted to obtain further formal training in Pain Medicine; completing his Pain Medicine Fellowship at LSU.
Ever since leaving his hometown to train in New Orleans, Dr. Villarreal has wished to return to Katy. Not only to take care for his own but to raise his family as well. He not only works in Katy but also lives in Katy, where he is not just a part of the medical community but the community as a whole. Dr. Villarreal is double Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is the founder of Katy Pain Specialists and former Medical Director of Pain Medicine for Houston Methodist West Houston Hospital. Dr. Villarreal is fluent in English and Spanish.
